Crash Events

Crashes Involving Objects Set In-Motion:
A vehicle's load is considered part of the vehicle. This would include persons or property upon, set in-motion by, or in position to move with the vehicle. Therefore, there are motor vehicle traffic accidents where the vehicles' bodies do not physically make contact that are two-vehicle accidents and both vehicles are considered contact vehicles in the accident. One example would be a commercial lumber truck that loses its load on an overpass and the lumber strikes a vehicle on the roadway below. The proper Sequence of Events for the lumber truck is “Cargo Loss or Shift” followed by “Collision Involving Motor Vehicle In-transport.”
