1. Driver's Log - Often contains the name of the motor carrier, City, State and principal place of business.
2. Lease Agreement - This document identifies the name of the lessee and its USDOT #.
3. Vehicle Registration - This identifies the vehicle's owner or registrant but is NOT always a reliable source for the responsible carrier due to vehicle leasing.
4. Safer Website - online resource operated by FMCSA that allow carrier searches by USDOT#, MC# or Name. This is a great resource for verifying information or completing missing information.
